What makes Maison Martin Margiela 8 Hybrid Aviator unique is the complexity of harmonizing 2 different ideas together. Some designers may have interpreted this idea and will never get away with it but the Maison has the unique ability to combine good craftsmanship and avant technology which makes this pair of oversized hybrid aviators with tortoiseshell acetate and half-frame trim a genuine masterpiece. Lenses have a half amber, half brown tint which makes methinks, "How the hell did they do that?!"

If you ask me, Stockholm could very well be the minimalist design capital of the world. They create the subtlest silhouettes and the cleanest color palette without being boring. This S/S 2011 collection from Nakkna did just that. Some pieces are familiar but that doesn't stop it from being interesting. I particularly like the long flowing coat from the top photo. I also like how the collection played with balance, especially the assymetrical treatment of textured panel to break the monotony. more here

To further their take on goth and macabre, highsnobiety reported that Givenchy will make these leather masks available in the stores as part of their Spring/Summer 2011 accessories collection for next year. For the past 3 or 4 seasons, Givenchy man comes up with scene stealing yet highly covetable accessories done in such luxuriuos and artisanal manner like their Fall 2010 crown of thorns necklace. Leather gas masks, golden crown of thorns...Givenchy always comes up with something...frightening.
