shirt Issey Miyake belt vintage hat SM

I added spikes to give it a detail

I'm experimenting on how to wear sweatpants other than for it's athletic purposes. I paired it with a square-ish Miyake shirt which looks really big on me even if its already XS. I guess that's how the designer wanted it to be. The sweatpants looks like a normal dropcrotch if juj-ed up. to finish it off, I cinched the waist with a spiked belt. Black and white brogues shoes for more graphic play.

This red Moto-jacket is haunting me!!! Another I.Must. Have. item! I have no problem with black I have one before, its just that the everyone is wearing it without really knowing the significance behind it. The once symbol of rebellion is now available off the rack which is kinda depressing. It's like not because you see it in the pages of Elle or Vogue you just have to have it. Partly, yes but ruins the purpose. I mean, owning a leather jacket in a certain phase of your life is not just about seeing it in Zara and purchasing it. It's like entering a relationship. It's about commitment. Not that you have a bike to wear it because as far as I know, The Ramones didn't drive one. Leather jackets is an icon. It's a symbol of youth rebellion, or if you're past that age, it's the spirit that you carry from it.  Sure you can wear a Bob Marley shirt if you can afford one but if you don't know any of his song and  do not actually share his 'idea', then there's no point. It's poser written all over your face. It's like wearing a Ninoy shirt when you are actually an Arroyo fan. Or something like that.

This red Perfecto jacket is a re-issue of the Perfecto brand made famous by James Dean, Ramones, and Marlon Brando. It's the real thing!

I'm in a Vogue state of mind lately. Saw this Jeremy Scott Adidas f/w 2010 and it reminded me of Anna Wintour's first Vogue cover where the model pairs a Lacroix shirt with jeans. It was a breakthrough at that time,  a brave step pairing luxury brand with jeans. Must. Have. it.

Jeremy Scott's recent runaway offerinf is short of wow factor. Though  his strong references to the New York City is palpable, I can't help but notice that the pieces of this collection are extensions  of his Adidas collaboration. It was always exciting to see how he translates everyday New York references (fashion sales, meatpacking district/neighborhood butchers, Trash, etc)  into clothes  but the real meat (no pun intended) here are  Scott's slap-in-the-face humor to panty-wearing Gaga. There were shirts and more shirts as if we never had enough but it's true, somehow, that we can never have enough t-shirts that says Trash. And to get us kicked: in the ass:

I'm starting to notice a rise of interest in a new boheme. Only, this time it is surprisingly monochromatic and light. It's like a marriage between safari and Jimi Hendrix (except for this lady in turban who could pass as the lovechild of Jimi to Erykah Badu).  The layering technique is still present with stronger attention on detailing and accessories (stack of wooden bangles, ornate scraf and persian bag, tassles, knots). I think it's a style that evolved from the organic-drapey trend from previous season except that it's reinvented by using tailored pieces. (click to see details)

I think these paintings by Sergey Nielsen for Close Up and Private‘s spring/summer 2010 editorial are amazing! It truly shows the vibrant spirit of the next season to come. Based from his works, details, textures, colors, patterns and a lot of 3-dimensional layering made it more inspiring.

Levi’s Japan release a new selection of 501 styles for Fall, all made exclusive to their e-shop. Four different designs are offered but my personal choice is these pair of patchwork 501. All reflect the worn -down style we’ve come to expect from the Levi’s Japan program.

They remind me of this patchwork jeans by Matt of Imelda Matt.

I've worked/collaborated with several denim brands in the country and I can pretty much predict what's next in terms of trend and washing as I've seen, touched, and felt some samples/ rejects and great ones- but- "seemed to not be commercially viable." I say this acid washed slim fit Beta Unit  is the future.

Holy Moly, Doc Martens! The Doctor is extending their collaborative effort and this time with the Jap brand Milk Boy. Milk Boy created  familiar Bat Wings silhouette. It's cool as it is but what would Jeremy Scott say about this? Hmmm.

While I am on a travel blogging mode, let's travel back in time. I just saw this now on Facebook posted by a millionaire granny, Lilly Parker from NYC (center, floral dress). It was captioned "Buencamino Belles. Manila Hotel 1976" That's mom (sitting in white) at the center. The one in printed blue gown is my glamorous maternal granma. Nakaka-Halston lang 'di ba?

And here's another one. OMG! I love the hive and the matching printed dresses!

Do you remember the time when you met a girl from Mars?
That was just probably me.
Here's a quick outfit post from Davao Intergalactic Spaceport bound to Earth.

I love flying. I love plane rides. I love beautiful male attendants. I love PAL. I love cool plane seatmates. Especially if your seatmate is a young cool alien from Korea who doesn't give a fuck if your hair is blue and you look like a remnant of Studio 54 (or an experiment gone wrong  from Area 51). Everyone, meet P.K. A student from Davao who's bound to Oz that evening for a vacay. We chatted. Watching tvN (a Korean channel in cable TV) has paid off! We talked about Korean music, which my knowledge is limited to K-Pop. I told him that my favorite show is Music Show Newton, Korea's version of Top of the Pops.  We talked about Yang Seung Ho. We also talked about Korea's obligatory military training. He  said he likes Davao more than Manila. I totally agree with him when he said Manila is so smoggy. I asked him if he knows any Korean clubs where young Koreans hang out because I've been wanting to enter one and see how they party. He said he doesn't know of any place like that in the Philippines. I also asked him why the young Koreans are so clique-ish because I seldom see them partying with Pinoys, he said they're afraid of us because of what they hear from the news. I told him to come visit Baguio City because Koreans are starting to outnumber the locals. I was exaggerating, of course. That was a short trip with so many fun things to talk about.

meet P.K.
Next thing I know, the spaceship has landed back to Earth.

And here are the obligatory airport papparazzi shots. Enjoy!

P.S.
I was definitely back in Manila when we were caught in a bad traffic jam caused by this government vehicle turning a U-turn on a NO U TURN SLOT! Bad thoughts came to my head if some foreign national took hostage of the bus but, no! The driver is just plain stupid. He miscalculated the pivot point of the narrow road. I am definitely home!
