Though, Thanksgiving is no biggie in the Philippines, I and my friends thought that we have a lot to be thankful for this year and celebrated Thanksgiving in a small get-together. Never mind that we don't know how Christopher Columbus' discovered America. We thank God for America! We have burgers, KFCs, McDonalds, Calvin Kleins and Hollywood.

Just when I thought retrogrades are so over, something fucked up happened to me today. I lost my wallet! I was in a cab on my way to a shoot and I was supposed to pick up some clothes from a designer's house. I thought it'd be a quick stop over so I left my backpack on my seat, near the driver, and went to get the clothes but it seems the clothes weren't ready yet. So I have to iron them and pack them while the cab is waiting outside. It wasn't until I put down my stuff and thought of buying me some breakfast I realized my wallet is gone. It had my ATM, government ID's, cash and probably some important stuff. Needless to say, I'm as good as dead. FML! 

On my way home, I had this young, flirty cab driver hitting on me all the way home. Oh, well, you win some, you lose some.
On a lighter side, I finally got to see Ronac Art Center in San Juan. It's the building of 'cool', I must say. Everything is in Helevetica and the word "fresh" is used very loosely. We had our shoot there and I got to go around on all floors. I'd like to go into details but you have to see it for yourself. They have specialty shops (at the ground floor, basement and at the deck) for the big boys, and there's a nice cafe which serves coffee, meal and beer. The reall come-on of the place is it's modern architecture which combines wood, stones, concrete, etc interestingly. I was also told that the facade of the building with series of rounded rectangles are actually a morse code from a Kanye West song. Below is a leak from the shoot.

When I first saw python boots at the Rick Owens runway, I quickly fell in love with the print and thought it would make a nice great addition to any wardrobe.I have a great affinity with  brown python print because, I remember, the first time I've been to Baguio, my first ukay purchase was a light brown faux python blazer which I so loved and wore everyday until the day I lost it. I think python prints will completely change the whole dynamics of dressing up. It's like how leopard prints turn you into a sexy wild thang. Wearing an animal print makes you mimic the animal you're wearing - which I think is a primal behavior. Remember the Nat Geo films on African Tribes? Instead of chanting and going into trance, however, you manifest that slithering character through walking and dancing and god-knows-howelse. Since that day at Owens runway, other designers came up with their own versions, and so far, Acne has the most covetable ones. (see  old post). I'm not much of a fan of wedges for men probably because of my unusual ability to trip at the most inopportune  time (and I have videos to prove it), but I would definitely try on python wedges at any cost.

I started to fall in love with Chinese filmmaker Wong Kar Wai's work when he started to play with colored lights in his shots and dressed his characters in glamorous outfits. I believe it was in the sci-fi movie 2046 which drawn me to his slow-paced world of romance and flashbacks. Sometime in 2007, he released his sci-fi shorty titled "There's Only One Sun." The storyline was simple. It was about Agent 006 who saw this guy named Light and was kept bilnd because Light is not supposed to be seen. She hooked up with another Secret Agent until someone dies. Of course, the characters have some existentialist parallelism and explores many emotional corners but what really got me into it was the cinematography, the almost editorial-esque camera shots and ultra-glamorous futuristic production design. It was just so inviting. I sometimes wish I live in that world. Purple lights. green lights. Eyeshadows that don't smudge. Sharp clothes in every color. All that minus the drama. haha.  I've been hoping to  do a shoot inspired from this film and I just wish it happens very soon. The full movie is posted below for your enjoyment.
