First day to attend Philippine Fashion Week last Thursday and went to Amber to party. Went to B-side to drink some more where we met Sanya Smith and John Joe.
The Queens of Halloween brought its court aboveground and on the streets of Malate as the collective Panty Monsters played for more than 2000 LGBT’s for the annual Black Party celebration. It’s the first time for the monsters to play infront of a crowd as big as this. I have to admit, we had cold feet days before for we have no idea what the crowd exactly expects.
I arrived past twelve in my nun costume and saw a long queue which extended more than a block from the entrance. These are paying crowd which we shouldn't disappoint. Getting through the thick maze of a crowd from entrance to stage area is not easy, add to that the fact that i was wearing 5-inch heels and a tall veil which makes hearing and maneuvering difficult. I get stopped for pictures several times before I finally reached the stage. Though it was really hot, which was expected of the situation, it was a good feeling.
The Rainbow Coalition (read: club sponsors) sent performers to do prod numbers for opening act. LothoLotho opened the Panty Monster segment. Badaf Punk (Jujiin / Xtina Superstar) took over the deck with their usual repertoire and the crowd went crazy. Gay crazy! The stage was literally shaking with the crowd dancing on it. Everyone was dancing and jumping to the campy tracks sans the audio equipment breakdown. Yours truly and Nixon played next, followed by Mike Lavet and then capped by Gigee of Fluxxe until sunrise! Shout out to the little monsters who showed support with their presence, you know who you are. All was well. Thank you, Malate, for welcoming the freaks and welcome to our world. Hope to see you sooner than next year. :D

Tommy Hilfiger teams up with the The Ting Tings for their s/s 2011 perfume campaign LOUD. The campaign carries exclusively the track entitled "We're Not The Same."
Here goes another "I-wish-I-were-a-Hilton" moment. Givenchy has released its lookbook for accessories and I just can't get my mind off from the liquid gold leather purse, teh soft leather carry-all and the red and black leather wallet. The items are not available until summer next year but if I were a Hilton, I'll find a way to get this babies in my hand and pockets.
It's Saturday night and there's liquor ban in this side of the world (which i heard will run until Wednesday). What a bummer. Popped some candies and washed it with stocked beer. And yes, this is how I see things right now- like 3D without the glasses.

A stylist in front of the camera? It may have been a decade since and a lot has changed. We are in the age when bloggers become the insiders and fashion insiders become bloggers, photographers as endorsers and celebrities as designers. A fashion editor as a model is no surprise at all. Unlike a decade ago when iD Magazine did an editorial featuring stylists and called them "The Unsung Heroes." The popularity of reality TV on "HOW" fashion is made,made a lot of people take notice of the army behind the scene. Hence, creating a sudden shift of interest. It is, indeed, time to celebrate. These heroes are unsung, no more.
I'm having an Axl Rose flashback at the moment. I've been watching GNR's Sweet Child O Mine video repeatedly and I just hoped that he took the age stopping serum. He has (once) the most delicate face and the most beautiful long blonde hair of his time. I still think he had the sexiest body and voice beyond compare.
I like Balmain's punk style. I may never afford a piece in this lifetime, but I can always get the look for less. How much does style cost anyway. And,oh, I can now do .gif's in an instant Don't ask how. I f I tell you, I must kill you. :D
IZREEL Izreel's spring/summer 2011shows strong influence of western fashion. The two-tone Gareth Pugh-esque black and whites were reinterpreted into relaxed and easy knit pieces. The leopard prints fused for menswear shouts Givenchy but instead of going gothtic took modern a twist of 50's Americana. I'm strongly attracted to the leopard varsity jacket and the sporty leopard print shorts.

Molfic designer Takashi Mori started his design career with Issey Miyake in 1999 which explains his minimalist aesthetics and technological know-how which seemed fit to the brand's concept of "minimalism" and "functionality." Minimalism, in this case, doesn't mean it has to be simple and boring. He showed his creativity in his basic lightweight pieces through triangular print patterns and embossed textures on shirts. And then, of course, the footwear. For his finale, models pulled off from the wall what became lightweight jackets.

Models in helmets was seen at V&R in the past but it was more apt for Banal Chic as it strongly supports aviator-meets-street inspiration. I like how they transformed the red scarf into a shirt complete with it's fringes (Givenchy did the same in the past season but it was just as a print) which made the idea totally fresh. My personal favorite is the Army shirt, which is a hybrid of 3 shirts assembled as one. What should look like an aviator jacket was reworked into a moto-jacket with cargo pockets attached to the sleeves. I also like the fact that instead of using army boots, the models wore a nice colored heeled ankle boots.

The collection has a two part story- water and earth. To introduce the aquatic inspiration, models paraded in blue and white palette and sheer tops. Pieces however ranges from biker jackets (in denim and white leather) to suits (with inflatable lapels and pockets), embellished with metal studs. A strong second part of the collection showed more earthy colors and materials. Suits, shorts, biker jackets were made from indigenous fabrics made more special by wooden gromets. The concept was extended to woven bags, bangles, dogtags and rings and was pushed further by the final piece- a woven biker-vest. Although this part was made too literal, it was kept modern in silhouette and in style which, if you ask me, is still wearable to the street.
While this blog is in the subject of Gareth Pugh and halloween, I've unearthed this video of Gareth, himself, in a performance video as he puts on several make-up looks that is both fashionable and halloween friendly. Are you ready for the halloween?
Welcome to the breakwaters of Manila Bay in Roxas Boulevard. Famed for its magnificent sunset, Manila Bay at night continues to be an alternative venue to hang-out. There's really nothing to do there but to just lounge. Some people try to fish but with the murky water, I doubt if you can eat what you caught. There are a few who jog along the boulevard but most people stay idle and chat. Since the local government relocated the bars and kiosks a which made this lane a destination at night a couple of years ago, mobile food carts selling local street foods and what-have-yous took their place. It's not as festive but still, great place to chill. This is a series of photos i took which I hope the local tourism would take notice and help these small entrepreneurs come up with better carts.
